British RAF pilot Andy Green and the Bloodhound SSC team will attempt to break the current land speed record at Hakskeen Pan in South Africa. Thrust SSC, also with Andy Green as pilot (1997), is the current land speed record holder with 763 mph (1 228 km/h). Andy and Bloodhound SSC will attempt 1 000 mph (1 609 km/h). Richard Noble, Bloodhound SSC's project director, was himself a previous record holder with Thrust2 in 1983.

This sparked our interest and we wanted to get involved from a scientific, soils & wetland point of view.
